Behind the scenes with Lee Charm

Lee Charm was the first recording artist I ever shot with whose music I could actually purchase from Apple's iTunes Store. This photo shoot was also one of the more complicated shoots I’d done to date because Lee has a manager, two stylists and a client, Altec Lansing, who was sponsoring his record release party. Altec Lansing provided a MIX Digital boombox speaker to use as prop.

The photo shoot started significantly later than it was scheduled to, and it was a race against time because we had to drive Lee from our studio in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood to meet the stylists in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood. In retrospect, there were a lot of things I would have done differently, and there were a lot of conversations I should have had but didn’t. At least now I can look back and say that I walked away having learned some significant lessons.
