Behind the scenes with Darrell Knight

Once a year I head down to Tampa, FL to help produce an event called the Candy Hall of Fame, for the National Confectionery Sales Association (NCSA). This year, I decided to a try shooting a few models while I was down there.

Since I was staying in a hotel and traveling with a very small amount of equipment, I wanted the shoot to be true to the situation: I was in a hotel room. I’m not familar with Tampa’s regulations (nor the hotel’s, for that matter) so I wanted to keep the setup simple.

I shot Darell in the hotel bathroom pretty late in the evening; I think we started at about 10pm and finished around midnight. It was a little strange because he brought a date to the shoot, and his date sat quietly on the bed while Darrell was posing nude in the hotel room shower.

I promised Darrell that if he ever made it to New York I’d give him much better images, but with his amazing body, and our limited resources, I think we did a great job.
